Community Service Learning – optional
I volunteer for RAFT (Resource Area For Teaching) https://raft.net/ (Links to an external site.) , a non-profit that aims at providing educators with engaging hands-on learning resources aligned to national content standards. I worked in several departments but the one that I spent the most time was on building affordable and sustainable STEAM Project Kits that would be used for Grades K–8 students and teachers. I have already spent more than 100 hours working over two years now with RAFT. These kits get sold for subsidized costs, usually less than $2 and has enabled several hundreds of schools and students. I would highly recommend RAFT to anyone that feels connected with helping our schools, students and education systems in general.
