What’s the problem?

There are many unknowns when bringing a new baby into the world. Access to safe water during birth shouldn’t be one of them. In Malawi, we’re (EWB USA) working with partners on the ground to improve the water systems at rural health clinics. We’ve designed and implemented solutions at five sites so far.
Clinic staff tell us the biggest change they experience when safe water is available is handwashing. When water flows from a tap onsite, they wash their hands before they treat patients. When they have to haul water from afar, they don’t. Mothers walk up to 12 miles with the hope of giving birth to a healthy baby in a safe setting. Help make clean water a reality for patients everywhere.
