warship – a ship carrying weapons, which is used by the navy. Some warships also carry naval aircraft.
Support warships are used to supply ammunition, food, and other supplies to the larger warships. Some warships exist to carry powerful radio receivers and computers to detect and analyze transmissions from nearby ships. Usually these kinds of ships are smaller, and do not have many guns or missiles themselves.
Ships of World War Two – Battleships, Aircraft Carriers, Cruisers, Destroyers, etc. – Using the pictures from a 1943 U.S. Naval Recognition Manual as a base, this section covers the major naval powers of the war: United States, United Kingdom, and Germany. As the manual was designed specifically for recognition, it includes plan views of classes of warships, not individual ships (surface ships only, no submarines). All the ships presented here are lead ships of their class.<
