To ensure that there are plenty of interesting TechChallenge Modules in the collection, create another Module about an Engineering idea or Innovation.

Introduction
In addition to the 16 standard Technology Lab Modules, there are a number of extra projects to work on. But it would be great have more.
You can help. Create a TechChallenge module to add to the growing collection. Explore some engineering projects and innovations that interest you. Set them up as “tasks” and share with the TechLab as new modules.
Task
Create a TechChallenge Module. You can work alone or with a partner.
Modules follow this outline. This will guide your research and writing.
Process
- Think about an engineering idea or innovation that is interesting
- Look to see if there is a webquest that fits with your idea QuestGarden or Zunal WebQuests
- Find a sciencebuddy project that can be used as a techlab module – 1-2 days, cheap or free materials http://www.sciencebuddies.org/science-fair-projects/recommender_survey1.php – 26 questions
- Search for some factual information that makes the connection between the activity and the engineering or innovation
- Build your module as you go. Fill in a copy of the one page template http://webquest.org/sdsu/templates/lesson-template1.htm
- Have someone else try your module – you will both get credit. you and the review need to keep notes as the review works through your module. compare notes when finished. decide what would make your module better.
- Make changes to your module. Use your notes and the reviewers notes to decide what changes to make. You may not want or need to make all the changes but you do have to be able to explain your decision.
Evaluation
Beginning 1 | Developing 2 | Qualified 3 | Exemplary 4 | Score
Is the Module complete? | Some basic information provide | Most of the module information provided | All the Module information complete. Can be used as is | Creative / original learning activities included
Are the Engineering / Innovation Connections clear? | Some information about connection engineering / innovation | Links to engineering ideas, innovation, application of STEM provided | Engineering / innovation connection clear, examples | Connections reinforced with pictures, media |
This is how your work will be evaluated.

Conclusion
You learn a lot by teaching someone else. By creating a Module, you don’t have to be there to teach someone else. Your module will be added to the collection so that it will be in the “choices” for many years we hope.
- What did you learn about your module topic?
- Do you still have questions about the TechChallenge?
- How could you make the TechChallenge better?
- If you were going to start over, what would you do differently?
- What tips would you give to someone who is going to create their own module?

Teacher Introduction
These Modules are being created by TechLab students for other TechLab students.
These are intended to be self-directed activities for individuals or partners.
Engineering concepts and application to innovation are identified and demonstrated with a short hands-on activity that can be complete with minimal supplies or expense.
Teacher Process
These are student projects. The teacher is “the guide on the side”, the Knowledgeable Other.
Resources
There are many good resources for learning about creating WebQuests.
